FAQs For My Novels

"The Library is Open" so to speak. Here you'll find an entry for the frequently asked questions derived from fans of my novels. Point of Infliction [Jump to novel FAQs for Tomorrow Never Came | Blind Thirst] Who is Derek Caldwell inspired by? I love him. His dark features are no doubt inspired by British actor Ben Barnes. When I began writing the concept for this book, I was going through a powerful phase with that fellow. Camille Moore is a very beautifully written character. I really enjoy the Camille and Minnie dynamic. Can you tell me who inspired that? That character chemistry is based on a childhood memory I have from my mother's youth. Minnie is named and modeled after a family member of mine. Richard is hot. That's not a question. Hahaha. But I love the comment, so this i...

One Year Since Point of Infliction

I am sitting here on a beautiful Sunday evening preparing a piece for Tuesday, for you. It was a long trying day for me, but I've pushed that aside to address something I'm very excited about. Point of Infliction is turning 1!!! You may wonder why none of my blogs have celebrated Tomorrow Never Came or Blind Thirst. The truth is that this is my first go at this. I love the fact that you've enjoyed the man behind the chaos, Derek Caldwell. That love I've heard many of you say you hate to admit speaks to the human condition. It doesn't make you good or bad to love him. It just speaks to the way we view our world. Situations we label an injustice, which become overlooked because we become desensitized, are addressed by him. Therefore, I appreciate the response. I value it. It lets me know wh...

The Final Word

The Final Word / Editor's Note: "Point of Infliction" was a thrill ride. To sum it up into one line I would say, "There's something different inside us all, something that would make people who think they know us realize, they don't."      My editor is part of the reason why I am so proud of this novel. We did a 50/50 edit style. I wrote the first half and sent it to her. During the editing phase of that portion I wrote the ending, but because I am who I am there was some wait time involved on my part. During those weeks, she was more excited than I ever anticipated. Wonderfully enough, upon receiving the final chapters she was entertained to the very end. That is the highest compliment one could ever "pay" to an author. On this final day of A Summer Reader's Dream my only in...

Social Saturday with Jasemine-Denise

After yesterday's book review, VND.com had to get an exclusive interview with Jasemine-Denise herself. I think, when possible, it is good for the reader to connect with the writer and kind of see where her/his thoughts were when writing their novel. It is always fascinating to me to go in-depth like that. VND: Firstly, Jasemine thank you for taking the time to sit down with me and discuss your latest novel Twisted Illusions. I truly appreciate it. Jasemine:  No problem. I love interviews although I’m terrible at them. VND: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Jasemine: I’m Jasemine, writing is like the air I breathe. It comes natural. I have a red Mohawk, and I’m a human jukebox. VND: What do you do when you are not writing? Jasemine: Well, I’m a professional photographer so ...

“Twisted Illusions” Book Review

Before I even begin this “book review,” I have to say that I am extremely proud of author Jasemine-Denise’s growth as a writer. Many novelist despise hearing that their current book is better than the one before it, but in this case perhaps better isn’t the way to put it. There has to be a kinder phrase. Her writing has always been superb, but it seems in her newest piece she was able to truly connect us to the characters. Denise has opened new doorways into a (sadly) timeless Chicago tale. All around Camille Harrison, there it was. Struggle to find love, to understand it, to succeed, and to surv...

Camille Moore Interview

When I was younger, a part of fiction character development was building scenarios to assign behavioral traits. My cousin (whose novel "Twisted Illusions" is on sale for $2) and I would discuss ideas, effortlessly bouncing off the other's original thought. No matter which angle we started at, we would always conclude at the same: acting out interviews. It's one of those outwardly psycho, inwardly hella cool type of things. I value the ability to bring childhood you into adult life, maintaining the same joys you had. It keeps you loving what you do, never allowing it to be come just what you do. So, since I don't have my cousin here at this very moment, I'll be doing a character interview solo. Check this noise. Visualize: A Camille Moore Interview It's November 22, 2013 and we're insid...

Life Through Fiction

"Point of Infliction" elicits this life through fiction feel for me, and because of that I wanted to share some facts that coincide with real life events, people, and places. 10. "Point of Infliction" is set in Middletown, Rhode Island. One of my favorite novelist (Dean Koontz) sets his books in RI. I believe it came naturally to me to use the same location. During the prologue (available for preview on Amazon), I was submerged in an intense state of mind. Every word I wrote it was as if I were having an out of body experience. So, the fact that I subconsciously used a placed I personally have never been to either plays to his skill or my loopiness. =) 9. I created a soundtrack for "Point of Infliction" which featured 26 songs total. The top 5 songs from the POI “Soundtrack” were: ...

The Purpose Beyond the Pages

My latest release, "Point of Infliction", is available for $1.99 until July 14, 2014! Each time I sit down to write I have to have a purpose. Though my purpose for "Blind Thirst" was minuscule compared to that of "Tomorrow Never Came" and "Point of Infliction", there was indeed motive. I've gone from appeasing my inner supernatural geek to addressing the sorrows of our youth to immersing readers into the wicked veracities of the world. So, you may be asking, "What is the purpose beyond the pages of "Point of Infliction" (POI)?" It is relatively evident what inspired this novel. It is dark, sensual, and several margins away from my past two books. There are bits of horror, humor, and remnants of love on many levels sprawled throughout. This embodies the human condition as well as the huma...

A Summer Reader’s Dream

[learn_more caption="Click Here for Jasemine-Denise's Introductory Address" state="close"] I was sitting on the bus the other day and I noticed that there was a woman who looked around my age reading. It immediately warmed my heart and I began to watch her intently flip through the pages of her kindle, her eyes scanning viciously as if she was completely drawn in. I came home that night and I called my cousin to tell her what had happened. Coincidentally, she had seen something similar a few weeks prior! The kid she’d seen was a teenager, probably several years younger than us. He had no phone out or any headphones in, he was just enjoying his paperback book. Veronica then said to me (And I quote!), “Jaye! I wanna give back to them. I want to show all the readers out there how much seeing ...

A Quote For You

Here is an excerpt from my upcoming novel Point of Infliction that I wanted to you to read. I am sending it out because I feel this way about you each of you and could not resist sharing it. In between the lines of this novel, you have been my greatest inspiration. Love Always, Veronica  ✌❤  ---------------------------------- “Through all the detrimental things you have endured your heart remains unblemished. Empathy is a fast fading trait, but it remains present in you. Although there is an absence of it today, people need it as much, if not more, as they had in the past. Every thing that concerns you or disappoints you is based off of your immense emotional connection to society, your…human decency. You may be displeased in the world as a whole, but you do not resemble the mass...

Tomorrow Never Came Is Now Available!

I'm so glad this day has arrived. I know it says my book was published yesterday, but it was literally available at 11:59PM. I was asleep! Anyway. This book was fun to write, but did have its stressful points as you'll see when you read it. Some of the topics (sexual assault, hates crimes, etc.) was rough, but I know that the message in it has the strength to hit the right people at any given time. I hope you enjoy it. Love you and talk to you soon. VND ❤   Order Tomorrow Never Came in PAPERBACK // on KINDLE NO GOODBYE IS FOREVER. *starts singing Cece Peniston - Finally* No, but seriously. After days of working on this site, filling it with content, and obsessing over every little detail I am finally done. My cousin Jasemine basically made this happen by purchasing the domain. I argued with her for a long time. Relentlessly. The outcome's obvious isn't it? I guess when you have the kind of history we have in the things we do we know what the other one ultimately needs to feel better. Livin' ain't easayyyyy! Anyway I'm all excited. RIDICULOUSLY SO! Sharing this site with you and all that it holds is just....the ultimate for me. There's always more to come, but for now this is what I've got to offer. Books page. Go!
