VERONICA N. DAVIS (born February 22, 1991) is an African-American novelist. Writing for 10 years, desiging for 4, the teenager developed her artistic abilities at a young age, along with a particular dream. Wanting to hold her on book in her hand like she held Dean Koontz novels (which happens to be her favorite author). She officially came to the fiction scene late 2009, and has already made a name for herself. Born and raised in Maywood, Illinois right outside Chicago, the 18 year old college freshmen has always aspired to me an author and actress, but chose the career path that would allow her to stay in school while contributing to the fantasy world. With her debut novel BLIND THIRST (released 9.24.09 by Xlibris), the teenager says, “I am writing for my generation. I want them to have something they can enjoy and identify with. Something written by one of their own.”
But before paving her way to being an official author, the then 17 year old worked at a metal shop as a secretary just 5 minutes away from her house. She made her own hours and was lucky enough to go to school just 10 minutes away from the shop. She attended Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy (PMSA), and graduated with a 3.7, which because PMSA was an honors school, would transfer into 4.7 on a 5.0 grade scale.
During her final year of high school she felt it was time to make her dream of publishing a novel come true. On August 25th of 2008 she began to write a novel originally tilted Eternal Darkness, but was changed to Blind Thirst as she found meaning in the new title. Spending hours a day, from paper and pen to the computer, writing she eventually came up with 220 pages of material. She narrowed it down to 181 pages and began the process of publication.
While Blind Thirst was going through the copyright and congress work, the now 18 year old college freshmen nerves began to set in. Once the book was in her hand she realized that people were eventually going to hear about the book, and read it. It wasn’t until she joined twitter that she discovered who she was representing with this novel. That’s when everything started to change for the teenage author. Feedback was intensely positive, and questions of a second book began to come up regularly. Veronica’s fan base increased, and more people joined the Veronica N. Davis Fanlisting. For a girl doing everything on her on, success came quickly. With hopes of a new novel in 2011, Veronica will continue her studies at a college 3 hours from her hometown. She would eventually like to do a book tour, so if you want her in your town, request the book at your library, and leave her a message.
